1 For1063 as touching4012 3303 the3588 ministering1248 to1519 the3588 saints,40 it is2076 superfluous4053 for me3427 to write1125 to you: 5213

2 For1063 I know1492 the3588 forwardness of your mind,4288 5216 for which3739 I boast2744 of5228 you5216 to them of Macedonia,3110 that3754 Achaia882 was ready3903 a year ago;575 4070 and2532 1537 your5216 zeal2205 hath provoked2042 very many.4119

3 Yet1161 have I sent3992 the3588 brethren,80 lest3363 our2257 boasting2745 of5228 you5216 should be in vain2758 in1722 this5129 behalf;3313 that,2443 as2531 I said,3004 ye may be5600 ready: 3903

4 Lest haply3381 if1437 they of Macedonia3110 come2064 with4862 me,1698 and2532 find2147 you5209 unprepared,532 we2249 (that2443 we say3004 not,3361 ye) should be5210 ashamed2617 in1722 this same5026 confident5287 boasting.2746

5 Therefore3767 I thought2233 it necessary316 to exhort3870 the3588 brethren,80 that2443 they would go before4281 unto1519 you,5209 and2532 make up beforehand4294 your5216 bounty,2129 whereof ye had notice before,4293 that the same5026 might be1511 ready,2092 3779 as5613 a matter of bounty,2129 and2532 not3361 as5618 of covetousness.4124

6 But1161 this5124 I say, He which soweth4687 sparingly5340 shall reap2325 also2532 sparingly;5340 and2532 he which soweth4687 bountifully1909 2129 shall reap2325 also2532 bountifully.1909 2129

7 Every man1538 according as2531 he purposeth4255 in his heart,2588 so let him give; not3361 grudgingly,1537 3077 or2228 of1537 necessity:318 for1063 God2316 loveth25 a cheerful2431 giver.1395

8 And1161 God2316 is able1415 to make all grace abound4052 3956 5485 toward1519 you;5209 that2443 ye, always3842 having2192 all3956 sufficiency841 in1722 all3956 things, may abound4052 to1519 every3956 good18 work: 2041

9 (As2531 it is written,1125 He hath dispersed abroad;4650 he hath given1325 to the3588 poor:3993 his846 righteousness1343 remaineth3306 forever.1519 165

10 Now1161 he that ministereth2023 seed4690 to the3588 sower4687 both2532 minister5524 bread740 for1519 your food,1035 and2532 multiply4129 your5216 seed sown,4703 and2532 increase837 the3588 fruits1081 of your5216 righteousness;)1343

11 Being enriched4148 in1722 every thing3956 to1519 all3956 bountifulness,572 which3748 causeth2716 through1223 us2257 thanksgiving2169 to God.2316

12 For3754 the3588 administration1248 of this5026 service3009 not3756 only3440 supplieth2076 4322 the3588 want5303 of the3588 saints,40 but235 is abundant4052 also2532 by1223 many4183 thanksgivings2169 unto God;2316

13 While by1223 the3588 experiment1382 of this5026 ministration1248 they glorify1392 God2316 for your5216 professed3671 subjection5292 unto1519 the3588 gospel2098 of Christ,5547 and2532 for your liberal572 distribution2842 unto1519 them,846 and2532 unto1519 all3956 men;

Chapter 9

1 CONCERNING the ministration to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you.

2 For I know that you have made up your minds, and that is why I boasted of you to the Macedonians stating that A-cha'ia was ready a year ago; and your zeal has stirred up a great many people.

3 Yet I have sent the brethren, so that our pride in you should not be in vain because of this question; for as I have said, you must be prepared:

4 Lest it happen some Macedonians come with me, and find you unprepared and we would be ashamed for, because of our pride in you, we would not say anything which would put the blame on you.

5 Therefore I thought it necessary to ask these, my brethren, to go before me to you, and make ready in advance the contribution, of which you have long ago been notified, that you might have it ready as a contribution and not as though it were forced on you.

6 But remember this, He who sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he who sows generously shall reap also generously.

7 So let every man give according to what he has decided in his mind, not grudgingly or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver.

8 God is able to make all goodness abound to you, and may you always have enough of everything for yourselves, and may you abound in every good work:

9 As it is written, He has distributed liberally; and given to the poor; and his righteousness endures for ever.

10 Now he who gives seed to the sower, and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed, and cause the fruits of your righteousness to grow;

11 That you may be enriched in everything, in all liberality, for such generosity enables us to perfect thanksgiving to God.

12 For the administration of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints, but it also is made abundant by many thanksgivings to God.

13 By this experiment of charitable service they glorify God in that you have subjected yourselves to the faith of the gospel of Christ, and through your generosity you have become partakers with them and with all men,

14 And they offer prayer on your behalf with greater love, because of the abundance of the grace of God which has been on you.

15 Thanks be to God for his incomparable gift.
